Sir,
I have read with an equal degree of astonishment and admiration, the vast plan proposed by that big Man, Senator Tracy.
The extinguishment of the French nation would never have obtruded itself on my poor, shallow imagination as being possible, had not I after reading your useful paper, made some enquiries of my neighbours, who understand politics as well as any men.
They informed me that the great English nation have actually, not only began this good work, but are at this time five years advanced in the business.
How happy I shall be to assist in this great design.
I therefore request some of your obliging correspondents to point out how I shall best equip my wife Joan and five small children, with weapons for accomplishing so desirable and humane an event: and to calculate for me, (as I am no scholar,) when I may reasonably look for these our pious wishes being consummated:--calculating by the progress the British have made in the last five years.
