At the worst, Juneau's rain storm was not so severe as the record rain storm of Western Washington. The rainfall at Juneau was 3.2 inches in 36 hours, Seattle's record showed 3.35 inches in 24 hours, and the damage that it did was much greater than that here.

Those people that have not lived in Juneau long must not think the rain storm of Wednesday is a normal thing in Juneau. It was one of those freak demonstrations on the part of Nature that occur occasionally everywhere, such, for instance, as was a July snow storm a dozen years ago at Spokane.
