Full Text
Few people have a proper sense of the importance of the success of the French revolution to the welfare and happiness of America. Should a counter-revolution be ultimately effected in France, the advocates of hereditary government and titular dignities here may again be emboldened to come forward with their pernicious doctrines—Should the French revolution eventually succeed, a moderate degree of vigilance on the part of the people of this country will preserve a pure republican system, and crush those plans of ambition which have been long hatching for us on the hot-bed of European depravity.
