BOSTON, March 14.

By the last mails we received the following communications, from our correspondent at New-York:

March 4. Last evening, at sunset, the old confederation, was fired out, by thirteen guns from the fort; and this morning the NEW ERA was ushered in with eleven guns, and ringing of all the bells in the city. At eleven o'clock, all the members of the senate who were arrived in town, assembled in the senate-hall, in the federal state-house. The hall for the representatives not being quite ready for their reception, they assembled in a room adjoining the senate-hall. There were but three representatives, and eight senators present, so that an adjournment was necessary—accordingly it took place until to-morrow, eleven o'clock, A. M.—At twelve o'clock eleven guns were fired, and the bells rung one hour. At sunset eleven guns more, and ringing for another hour.

'It is expected that a sufficient number to form a quorum will arrive this evening. Should that be the case the votes for President and Vice-President will be counted to-morrow. The senators arrived, are Messieurs Strong, Morris, Maclay, Langdon, Wingate, Few, Ellsworth and Johnson. Representatives,—Messieurs Ames, Thatcher, Leonard, Gerry, Wadsworth, Huntington, Trumbull, Tucker, three from Virginia, and two from Pennsylvania.

The federal state-house is not yet completed—the EAGLE was not displayed this day, as was expected.

The choice of federal representatives for this city and district, began yesterday and will end federally. By next post will write you more fully.'
