Full Text
Patriotism is not hatred or distrust of other peoples and other lands than our own. Patriotism is such love of our own country and home as strives to make that country and that home better and happier. The patriot is not the person who scorns all who are not Americans, or rails against all whose opinions are different from his own. The patriot is the man who obeys the laws of his country, who supports its institutions, who deals fairly with his fellows, who believes in the principles upon which the nation was founded, and who has aspirations for better things for others as well as for himself.
