Rose Cooper, Again.—We see by a late California paper that the celebrated Rose Cooper, alias Rose Porter, of Jane Trainer notoriety, is neither dead nor reformed. It will be recollected by many of our readers that her counsel, Mr. James T. Brady gravely assured Judge Duer, on the trial, that Miss. Cooper had abandoned her former course, "and resolved to lead a life of virtue, and to bring Jane up in ways of morality." It would seem that Judge Duer took it all in earnest. But the evidence recently taken before the Coroners Jury, as detailed in the California papers, shows Rose at home again. It appears that one of her "lady boarders," named Ida Brewer, took her bowie-knife, went from Rose Cooper's house to another such, and finding there her faithless paramour showering his attentions on another just such a girl named Mary Lee, Ida plunged her bowie-knife into her, and poor Mary died in agony twenty minutes. This article is headed "Murder in a house of prostitution." Rose Cooper's house is on Third-st. This is the woman who was thought fit to train Charles Trainer's only daughter, and claimed the right to take that daughter, despite the entreaties of agonized parents, and consign her to infamy. This is the woman too, that in such an undertaking could command the services of able counsel, and of Capt. Rynders and his mob. Rose has not seen the end of this Trainer road yet. Charles has a civil suit proceeding against her claiming some $5,000 for the alleged abduction of his child, in which some City gentlemen have become her bail.—Tribune.
