FOR THE RHODE-ISLAND REPUBLICAN.

MISCELLANEA--NO. XXI.

SECRECY.

The power of retaining secrets is a qualification highly requisite for every person to possess. Without this, friendship cannot exist, nor the satisfaction resulting from confidential intercourse be enjoyed. The bands of social harmony are dissolved, and contention and distrust assume a disagreeable predominance.

The revealer of secrets is shunned by the most abandoned of mankind as a dangerous character to associate with. Even the thief and robber banish him from their society.
