Federal and Insurrecto Troops Clash in Battle.
Although the United States has not as yet taken an active hand in the Mexican troubles, threatening clouds are gathering, and unless the situation along the border soon changes for the better, there will undoubtedly be several positions open for war correspondents. Washington, D. C., has announced that redoubled activity is noticeable about the war department and the latest current rumor furnishes the news that the Hawaiian Islands will soon be abounding in fortifications. An attack on the Pacific side is evidently feared by the officials and it is a well known fact that the department is making emergency preparations to protect the islands should occasion arise.
