March 25. There are now FOUR members of the lower, and TWO of the Upper-House wanting: But as there are three of the Jersey Members yet to come in--and they are in the vicinity, it is expected there will be a quorum THIS WEEK.
All this time the working upon the federal State-House, has been unceasingly attended to--and is not yet finished.
It is said, that secretary THOMSON will be the special Messenger to the illustrious PRESIDENT. Several are mentioned, as candidates for the same appointment to his Excellency the VICE-PRESIDENT.
An elegant Barge is building to waft the great WASHINGTON across the Hudson, to be rowed by ten SEA-CAPTAINS, and one to act as cockswain.
There are great preparations making for a splendid display of fire-works, &c.
Not a word of European News, later than you have before published.
The Most Hon. Mr. ELMER, Senator from New-Jersey, is prevented by an ill state of health, from attending his duty in the Senate.
The Hon. SAMUEL A. OTIS, Esq. of this State, is, we hear, a candidate for the office of Secretary of the Most Hon. SENATE of the United States, and Mr. LIVINGSTON, of New-York, Secretary of the House.
It is the height of ingratitude, says a correspondent, to endeavour to remove the Hon. Mr. DUNBAR from the Senate-a Gentleman, whose federalism--whose firmness and whose sacrifices must be fresh on the minds of every citizen.
