Springfield, Ill., Feb. 5.—The proposed combination between the Republicans and the F. M. B. A. members of the Legislature for the election of a farmer candidate to the United States Senate failed to materialize this morning. Another meeting between the Republican steering committee and F. M. B. A. members will be held.
Cockrell, F. M. B. A., was not present when the Legislature met in joint session to ballot for Senator. Two other F. M. B. A. members refraining from voting, the ballot stood—Palmer 101. No quorum. The Republicans and farmers then forced an adjournment.
