This Melo Drama was brought out on Tuesday, in a very creditable manner. It is a showy piece, and very interesting from association,--for who has not read and admired Sir Walter Scott's "Tales of the Crusaders?" Mr Coney, the gentleman under whose direction the piece is said to have been gotten up, deserves much credit, for his clever management of the business. The dresses were, generally, very appropriate, (of course we except the modern military dress of the German Band, which was calculated to have any effect but that of keeping up the proper scenic illusion,)-and the acting was good, though we do not perceive that the Stock Company has been at all improved by the substitution of Mr Barclay for Mr Maynard. We have not observed Mr Maynard at his duties for some few nights past. Why is this? Is Mr Barclay supposed to be competent to fill Mr Maynard's place?
To-night we perceive Messrs. Coney and Blanchard take their benefit; we hope it will prove a good one; for in theatrical parlance there are such things as bad benefits. Mr Blackburn is advertised to sing the song "Sly Young Crow." We sincerely hope, that should he be so indiscreet as to attempt again to thrust such a vulgar and stupid doggerel affair upon Cincinnati audience, he may be hissed or pelted off the stage. We write thus plainly, because we think there is a dogged obstinacy manifested in thus annoying the respectable portion of an audience with vulgar absurdities. On a former occasion, ladies were obliged to quit the theatre, in consequence of having the very song, referred to, thrust upon them.
