ANOTHER SPECIMEN OF "ARROGANCE."
"Our Cotemporary," says the Baptist Herald of last week, "has scholarship enough to know that all the evidence, philological, historical and Scriptural is decidedly, and unequivocally in our favor."
Right sorry are we to say to the very worthy Editor of the Herald that there is nothing original in this sentence, but its application. It has been stereotyped for at least two hundred years; and the most learned and pious Paedobaptists of every subsequent age, have all borne, as well as we, the imputation of defending and supporting a dogma, knowing "that all the evidence, philological, historical and Scriptural, was decidedly and unequivocally," against them. It matters not though the contrary has been asserted and proved hundreds of times, it still stands an oracular Baptist boast, upon the principle that positive assertion is the most effective mode of supporting error, or assailing truth.
