WASHINGTON. Jan. 30.-By the A.P.)-Democratic leaders in the house announced today they would attempt to have a special committee appointed to investigate the affairs of the shipping board.
Representative Garrett, the Democratic leader said it was planned to have Representative Davis, of Tennessee, a Democratic member of the Merchant Marine Committee introduce a resolution calling for the investigation.
Representative Longworth, the Republican leader had been informed of the minority plan and had taken the position that if an inquiry is ordered the committee should have wide power and authority to go back as far as it may desire into the Wilson administration in its investigation.
