We learn that more riots have recently taken place among the laborers employed on the Enlargement of the Welland (Canada West) Canal, growing out of an attempt of a police officer (Wheeler) to make an arrest in one of the laborers' shanties near Aldenburg. Armed resistance was made to the officer, who, with his assistants, was shot at and driven off—Wheeler receiving a ball in his hip. A corps of colored troops, stationed at Port Robinson, was detailed to quell the disturbance, who succeeded in arresting the ring-leaders. Many of the laborers have for some time refused to work at the present reduced prices, and have become desperate from destitution.
