W.C.T.U. COLUMN
Prohibition, now a part of Federal law, must be written in the law of individual life, receive the support of the people, and become a fixed principle of action.
A wall of defense against the wall of defiance! Build to keep America dry.
FROM INDIA
The following prayer is being offered each week in the Madras Union Christian College, India, showing how eagerly Christians in the Orient are watching the Temperance Movement in the U. S.
"We beseech Thee to grant Thy strength to this nation in its conflict with the evils of strong drink, that the resolve which has been nobly made may be nobly kept."
Change the indifferent woman into the Interested W. C. T. U. Worker.
ESSAY ON LIQUOR
"Liquor is a funny thing: if you drink it on an empty stomach, it makes you sick: if you drink it on a full stomach, it makes you sick: if you mix your drinks, it makes you sick; if you drink it straight, it makes you sick; you do pay a fortune for it, and it makes you sick. There seems to be only one thing to do about it--get sick"—Carnegie Puppet.
"If the Eighteenth Amendment is ever re-submitted, it will be because drink is, and ever has been handmaid of self-indulgence, profit, and low politics." Carrie Chapman Catt; in the Woman Citizen.
"Every week in every paper in every town, say some fine truth for the benefits accomplished by prohibition." Irene G. Adams, in Florida Good News.
—Director of Literature Dep't. for local W. C. T. U.
Maybe Earl Carroll got sick from worrying whether or not Atlanta has bathtubs.
