No meeting was ever conducted with more decorum than the one on Saturday Evening. The citizens mingled without distinction of Parties. The only point at issue was, whether we should also go to war with France at once, or wait a speedy issue to the pending negociation. The meeting at first was uncommonly full, but the heat and the late hour induced many to leave it. The vote on Mr. Hay's substitute, was 82 against, and 50 for it. The original resolutions were carried, without division, by an immense majority.
