Huron (Ohio) Q. M.
The last term of the Huron (Ohio) Q. M. was held at Clarksfield on the 25th, 26th and 27th inst.-Elder John Wheeler presiding. The reports from the several churches were as follows:-
Church in Greenwich well engaged; one excluded; they request that Br. Thomas Cain, a member of said church, may receive a letter of commendation as a licensed preacher of this Q. M. which after due consideration, was granted.-
The ch. in Plymouth is in trials--
Ch. in Springfield, steadfast-
Ch. in Greenfield has been blessed with some good seasons since the last term; three have been added-
Ch. in Clarksfield in union, one excluded-
Ch. in York well engaged in religion, 4 added-
Ch. in Milan is also rejoicing, four having been added-
Green Creek, no report-
The little branch in New London are still striving to walk in the way of life.
Voted, that the clerk of this Q. M. make out and forward to the publishers of the Star, the minutes of each session of the Q. M. Agreed to hold the next Q. M. in Springfield.
The meeting of worship commenced on the 2d day of the term,-at 10 o'clock, with a discourse by Br. May, which was followed by another by Eld. Mugg; after which the brethren and sisters rose in succession, and spoke freely of the goodness of God, and of his kind dealings to their souls. Elders Wheeler, Pitman, and Mugg preached on the Sabbath. At the close of the ordinary exercises, we commemorated the dying sufferings of the adorable Saviour. Interesting meetings were likewise held on Saturday and Sabbath evenings. Our beloved Br., Eld. Stephen J. Pitman, of the New-Durham (N. H.) Q. M. being about to return to his friends in the east, delivered his farewell discourse in his usual feeling and pathetic manner, and drew tears from the eyes of both saint and sinner. He arrived here sometime in June or July last, and has labored among the different churches of this Q. M. with a good degree of success; and by his humble, meek and christian-like deportment has gained the good will and esteem not only of his own but also of other denominations. But he has gone from among us. May the blessing of Heaven attend him in his pilgrimage through this vale of tears; and may he finally be conducted to the mansions of eternal day.
Seth C. Parker, Clerk.
