COMMUNICATION.

Last Thursday, being the day appointed by the President as a general FAST throughout the United States, a sermon was preached in this town, by the Rev. Thomas Fessenden, appropriate to the occasion. He exhibited, in a luminous and interesting view, the political situation of our country;—and urged in the language of a statesman, the absolute necessity of a strict observance of the laws and measures of the executive. He developed the nefarious schemes of the Frenchman and the Democrat in a masterly manner, and declared, with the firmness of a patriot, that no people under heaven could prosper, if they had connexion with a nation that denied the being and existence of a God.
