The British Packet Halifax, arrived at New-York from Falmouth, in 8 weeks- brought no interesting News later than we were before possessed of: But by the Ruby, Jones, at Philadelphia, from Bourdeaux, French News was received a few days later than by the previous arrivals : Of this News we now give the most important articles.
Army of Italy.
A courier passed through Munich, June 6 on his way to Gen. Wurmser, the Austrian Gen. on the Rhine. He was from Inspruck, the capital of Tirol, 70 miles from Trent, and subject to Austria. He informed, that on the 2d of June, the French army was before Trent, which is 60 miles from Venice. The Bishop, and principal inhabitants, had taken flight ; and the alarm had extended to Botzen and Brixen, in the Austrian Province of Tirol ; That the inhabitants of Trieste, (a Seaport between Germany and Italy) were also packing up their effects, expecting the French there, both by land and sea, which was contemplated ;-That the French Italian army, having made Peace with all the States of Italy, was directing all its operations against the Hereditary States of the House of Austria ;-a route was to be opened in Istria and Tirol;- That the army of Beaulieu, has not lately been heard of, though supposed to be at Campera, waiting reinforcements from Vienna.
