Wallace Merchants Form Brand New Organization
WALLACE, Nov. 7—Almost simultaneous with the announcement of the close of the tobacco market here next Thursday a brand new organization has been formed among Wallace's outstanding business and professional men to sponsor the development of the town commercially, culturally, and in all other phases.
The new group is Wallace Associates.
It is composed of merchants, doctors, lawyers, tobacconists, farmers and all other leaders in Wallace's community life. It will work toward the development of all worthwhile projects aimed toward the further progress of this up-and-coming farmer's marketing and trading center.
Harry Kramer, local department store owner, is president of the new group. Officers serving with him are W. L. (Bill) Hussey, tobacconist and warehouseman, vice-president; John Sikes, sales supervisor of the tobacco market, secretary; and Jerry G. Southerland, local accountant and secretary of both the Wallace Tobacco Board of Trade and Strawberry Exchange, treasurer.
On the board of directors are, besides the officers, Roy Carter, Wayne Jordan, W. C. Worsley, Willard Hoffler, N. L. Vann, D. D. Blanchard, Oscar Blanchard, Harry Oswald, A. C. Hall, John Diefeld, Dr. Dean Hundley, D. L. Wells, W. N. McLean, Colwell Smith, Earlie Sanderson, and Robert Hussey.
Offices for Wallace Associates will be opened within the next several days and projects which already have been presented to the group will be studied.
John Sikes will continue as sales supervisor of the Wallace tobacco market, which will close its 1947 marketing season Thursday, and act as manager of Wallace Associates.
