The Convention of the Mississippi Territory finished their sessions and signed the Constitution of the State of Mississippi. Event announced by a federal salute from a six pounder near the hall. Election directed for first Monday and Tuesday of the present month to choose Governor, Lieutenant-Governor, Representative to Congress, members to Senate and House, Sheriffs, and Coroners. First session of General Assembly in Natchez in October next. Natchez Gazette names David Holmes for Governor, Cowles Mead for Lieutenant-Governor, George Poindexter for Representative to Congress.
