Only 547 Officers, Men Ask Family Ship Berths

FRANKFURT, Germany, March 6.--(AP)--Only 547 American officers and men have asked that their families be sent to Europe, although the Army is preparing to bring in 10,000 dependents a month. U. S. Army headquarters said Wednesday.

Only 22 enlisted men were among those applying.

Army officers said the low number of applications probably was due to the fact that most low ranking enlisted men were waiting for Congress to pay costs of moving families from their homes to east coast embarkation transportation ports.
