Virginia. The opposition to the new constitution in this state is increasing, and from present appearances the decision upon it is decidedly doubtful.— Mr. Alexander Campbell, one of the delegates in the Convention from the Wheeling district, is publishing against it a series of numbers written with great ability, and towards some of the members of the Convention with great severity, and calculated, as we should think, to have great effect. Mr. Doddridge, who was probably the most talented and influential member from western Virginia, coincides in the same course; both advise the rejection of the amended constitution. The main ground for this advice seems to be, that its adoption would make more distant the time when a radical reform could be effected; when a constitution founded on republican principles, can be carried.
