Monday, October 8, 1810.
The last week has added but little to our former stock of foreign intelligence. The late measures of Bonaparte excite but little interest in England. The English Government will in all probability wait to see what course the French Government will adopt towards neutrals after the 1st of November, the time when it is said their decrees will cease to operate.-Many fear that the French Emperor is playing a deep game ; that his object is either to set a new trap for the purpose of making another and greater grasp of American property: or, by equivocating as to the suspension of the British Orders in Council, endeavor to involve the United States in a war with that Country. That there is a strong french party in this Country who wish for a war with England, there can be no doubt; But it is to be hoped that there is a majority in the American Government opposed to so ruinous a measure, when it is required neither by our interest or honour.
We see nothing in the French accounts which afford the least prospect or disposition on the part of Bonaparte to restore the millions of property he has, robber like, taken from the citizens of this country.
Sweden, since it has come under French influence, is represented to be torn by divisions, and will soon have to submit, to the domination of one of Bonaparte's patent Kings. Murat-it is said, is to be her future sovereign.
