Montana's state senate in one of its final acts, and by almost a straight party-line vote, followed the example of the lower house and refused to consider any appropriation to the attorney general for the continued enforcement of gambling laws. The standing vote on "general orders" on an amendment by Sen. Wilson, of Toole, that $30,000 be allowed for such enforcement was voted down 27-26, with one Democrat, Lehrkind (Gallatin) joining with 26 Republicans to kill the amendment. One Republican, Weydemeyer (Lincoln) joined with the 25 Democrats in support of the amendment.
