Albany, July 25.
"Every thing here has a truly warlike appearance; troops are marching into the camp in all directions. Drums, fifes, trumpets, French horns call us to the window every hour in the day. There is now crossing the ferry, a fine body of troops, with arms as bright as those belonging to that power which Gov. Strong considers "the bulwark of our religion!!". "I unfold my letter to mention, that we were called-up from our dining table to see one of the grandest sights my eyes ever beheld; it was the Horse or Flying Artillery. The whole body of draft-horses, of the baggage waggons and attendants, amounting to more than four hundred. This looks more like taking Canada than any thing I have yet seen. Gen. Dearborn has arrived, and every thing seems active.—A sloop full of troops is now coming up the river. It seems to me more like the march of an army than the first collection of troops. The very sight of such a fine army will make converts to their cause. Success and glory to the American arms, is the general shout!"
