What is this article about?
In Nogales, 13-year-old newsboy Ramon Estrada wins $25 war bond by first identifying boyhood photo of local tomato man Marty Loughman in newspaper contest. Many guessed 'Dapper' Charley Bauer instead; Loughman shares humorous anecdote of photo's origin in 1890s Chicago.
Merged-components note: Continuation of the guessing contest story to page six, including the image of Marty Loughman due to spatial overlap and textual reference.

Ramon Estrada And Eleven Others Guess Correctly:
Twelve Guess "Dapper" Charley Bauer;
Walter Holm Gets Four Guesses
Ramon Estrada, 13-year-old newsboy, son of Mrs. Dolores Estrada, 134 Torres street, and a youth who is out bright and early every morning selling papers on the streets, is a lucky boy.
He's winner of a $25 war bond for having been the first person to guess whose boyhood picture appeared in last Friday's Nogales International.
Estrada was one of 12 persons guessing that it was a picture of Marty Loughman, very popular tomato man of this city.
Twelve persons also guessed the picture was Charley Bauer, proprietor of the Montezuma Buffet, and known about town as Dapper Charley.
The word "dapper" was used in the publicity accompanying the picture and it was put in purposely to mislead guessers. One person guessing Bauer told us "you sure spilled the beans by using the word dapper."
Ramon Estrada, winner of the contest, made only one guess and it cost him just ten cents-for a 10-cent defense stamp.
When asked to tell us something about the boyhood picture, Marty said:
"LITTLE LORD FAUNTLEROY"
"Well, my dad died in 1897 so the picture must have been taken in 1896 or '95. I have a hazy recollection about it. It seems there was a theatrical company playing 'Little Lord Fauntleroy' in the neighborhood, so my dad became smitten with the idea that the little lord's suit would look good on me, so he rented the suit and took me down to the photographer.
"As you can see, the suit looks a little tight under the arms, like I got into it with a shoe-horn. It also appears from the look on my puss, I didn't like the idea too much either. Well, we came out of the photographer's and one of the neighbor's kids saw me and yelled 'Marty is a sissy.'-I hauled off and let go with my right, and there I was, flat on my back in the gutter -well, of course in those days there were plenty of horses-anyhow, my dad had to buy the suit so he took me home (I shoulda thrown that cane away) and I got into my regular clothes--I mean sweater and pants (no shoes or stockings) we were years ahead of rationing, and I went back looking for that kid.
"I found him, and let go with my right-but this time I didn't land on my back in the gutter- I landed on my nose-and right then and there at the age of four years, I says Mr. Loughman, unless you intend to become America's greatest acrobat you had better find a less strenuous solution to your differences of opinion, there surely must be an easier way to settle these differences of opinion'-so, I guess I musta sold myself the idea that a deft gab beats a left jab' because that's the last time I ever had a fight of course I've lost a few arguments, and I've lost my temper a few times, but when things get too hot, I remember that gutter and compromise.
"Getting back to the picture, I think it should have been a cinch to guess all you had to do was to look at the foot on the rail-of course the editor's description about being 'dapper' may have been misleading -instead of dapper, he meant to say 'dapple,' meaning dapple gray."

Marty Hasn't Lost Good Looks In 47 Years
We think you'll all agree that the years have been kind to Marty Loughman, prominent tomato man, and he hasn't lost his good looks since the time the picture at left in Lord Fauntleroy suit was taken almost a half century ago in Chicago. Picture at right shows Marty as he looks today. The boyhood photo appeared in last week's Nogales International in connection with war bond guessing contest. Ramon Estrada, a 13-year-old newsboy, was the first to turn in the correct guess and receives as a reward a $25 bond.

Ramon Estrada, a 13-year-old newsboy, wins a $25 war bond as the first to correctly guess that a boyhood photo in the Nogales International is of Marty Loughman. Twelve others also guessed Loughman correctly, while twelve guessed Charley Bauer due to misleading 'dapper' description. Marty Loughman recounts the 1895-96 photo taken in a rented Little Lord Fauntleroy suit in Chicago, leading to a childhood fight.
