In a Labor Day message to the people of Georgia, Commissioner of Labor Ben T. Huiet compared the observance of the day in this country with that in countries behind the iron curtain. He pointed out that we observe Labor Day by paying tribute to working men and women of the land, but the Communists make it an occasion to display their military might and to make threatening speeches.
Mr. Huiet continued. "We hear much about automation, foreign competition, population explosion and other hazards to a free economy. We can meet the challenges ahead if we will bear in mind that manpower is our most important resource. With this in mind. we must prepare for the future by better training and better education of our young people."
He concluded by commending the workers of Georgia and expressing a wish that workers the world over could enjoy the freedom and the fruits of their labor that we do here.
