Pay and subsistence of officers and cadets at West Point from 1802 to 1829 totaled $1,435,986.75. Expenditures on erection and repairs of buildings and supplies by the Quartermaster amounted to $535,842.50, aggregating $1,971,829.25 for these accounts, plus $21,150.22 for supplies to troops not part of the institution. Since organization to 1829, 136 teachers and professors were employed, receiving $184,696.52 in pay.
