The pay and subsistence of officers and cadets at West Point, from the year 1802 to 1829, is $1,435,986 75. The sum expended in the erection and repairs of building, and supplies by the Quarter Master, $535,842 50, making an aggregate expenditure on these two accounts of $1,971,829 16, besides the further sum of $21,150 22, for supplies for the troops stationed at West Point, who formed no part of the Institution. Since the organization of the Academy to 1829, the number of Teachers and Professors employed has been 136. and the amount of pay received by them has been $184,696 52.
