COMMUNICATIONS.

Messrs. Editors—I observed in your paper of the 18th inst. that it has been suggested that the contemplated Turnpike road from Lynchburg to Chilton's, ought to be extended to the Red House in Charlotte. One that is well acquainted with the country through which the road passes, concurs in the opinion that the Turnpike should be extended farther than Chilton's, but not as far as the Red House, nor along the road as it at present runs, from Chilton's thither. It ought to leave the present road between Concord meeting house and Sherrar's, bear to the right, and cross Falling River at Heath's Mill; thence crossing Martin's creek at or near a celebrated spring known by the name of the Cold Spring, and intersect the present road on the ridge dividing the waters of Falling and Cub Creek, from whence to the Red House, a distance of 8 or 10 miles, it crosses no water course, no hill exceeding 3 degrees. Here nature has supplied the place of art. There can be no doubt that the interest of the stockholders and the convenience of a large portion of the people of Charlotte and Campbell, would be advanced by thus extending this road. Those interested would do well to inform themselves on the subject.

the turnpike road from lynchburg to chilton's should be extended beyond chilton's via a better route—leaving the current road between concord meeting house and sherrar's, crossing falling river at heath's mill and martin's creek at cold spring, to the ridge dividing falling and cub creeks—to advance the interests of stockholders and the convenience of people in charlotte and campbell counties.
