Colonel Leavenworth, on behalf of the United States, concluded a formal Peace with the Ricara Indians, on the 1st August.
The Ricaras agree to restore the horses and other property taken from General Ashley's party—that the navigation of the Missouri shall not be obstructed by them—that all American citizens duly authorised to come in their country shall be well treated—and that, in case any of the nation commit acts of violence upon any American citizen, such individual shall be punished for the offence.
