Full Text

The elevator at the International Hotel, Virginia City, suddenly dropped from the second to the first floor, Friday night, carrying seven members of the Harrigan & Hart troupe, now playing in that city, along with it. A faro game in the saloon directly under the elevator, came to a close just about the time the vehicle lit, the players in their anxiety to render assistance to the probably injured, forgetting to secure their winnings. A Miss Williams was the only person injured, and she not seriously. A part of the hoisting machinery gave way and the safety clamps failed to do their duty, which caused the fall.
