HOBSON SICK.
Climatic Fever Has a Hold on Him and His Fellow Heroes-
Will Be Exchanged.

Washington, July 6.-(Special.)-Word has been received here that Hobson and several of his men are ill at Santiago. They have contracted the climatic fever. All the sick prisoners are well cared for by the leading hotel in the city, which is not too good. Both Spanish and English physicians are attending them. Some anxiety is felt for them. It is believed that they should be in their native country, and another effort has been made to effect an exchange.

The war department today posted the following from Shafter. "Am just in receipt of a letter from General Torral agreeing to exchange Hobson and his men in the morning. Yesterday he refused my proposition for exchange."
