MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS
New York, Dec. 28.--A gold medallion believed to have been worn by Mary, Queen of Scots, on the day of her execution was taken by burglars who wrecked the interior of Maj. and Mrs. E. C. Kavanaugh's apartment at 651 West End avenue Sunday afternoon or evening.
The medallion, which Major and Mrs. Kavanaugh intended presenting to the Metropolitan Museum of Art this week, was of great historic value and was a wedding gift to Mrs. Kavanaugh from Dr. Carvallo, the French historian, whose wife is Miss Anna Coleman, of Philadelphia. On one side was a representation of Christ's face and on the other the Virgin and the Christ Child.
The burglars also made away with the silver medal of honor given Maj. Kavanaugh by the French government for his work as chief of the auxiliary workshops during the war, a pin made up of 17 diamonds, two platinum pins diamonds.
