The Work of the Liquor Deputies.
Five barrels of hard liquors of various kinds, all mingled together, were taken from the cellar of the city building last night and sent to Boston by the boat, there to be distilled into alcohol. This is the sixth or seventh lot of five barrels that have been sent to Boston since last April, when the new law went into effect in regard to this method of disposing of the liquors seized by the sheriffs. The county treasury is the richer by about $35 a barrel for this liquor, and therefore since last April about $1000 has been realized.
Yesterday afternoon, Deputy Sheriff Gould seized six quarts of whiskey, six bottles of beer, and about four dozen bottles of porter.
