Direct from Washington. We understand that Col. Buck was in town the past week—and withal, that he was very frank in delivering his political views. He was a hard-money man—and openly admitted, nevertheless, that the hard money scheme would bring cows down from $30 to $3 in value, and require ten dollars to pay a debt of one! Of course, no intelligent man like the Colonel, can doubt but that this would be the inevitable result; the only wonder is that men, seeing this to be the complexion to which things must come at last, will be inconsiderate enough even to dream of a scheme so chimerical and ruinous.
