Full Text

The search for Charlie Ross still continues, but with smaller and smaller prospect of success. The boy's father has just been spending a week in tracing up the latest 'clew,' only to find it as fruitless as all that have gone before. Feeling sure that the boy, if alive at all, is hid away somewhere in New Jersey, Mr. Ross with a Philadelphia detective, has been scouring the shores of Raritan bay and river, where he had learned Mosher and Douglass, the dead burglars, used to cruise, last fall, but, though they found people who had seen the men, they could not find the faintest trace of the child, and Mr. Ross is now about discouraged. He is reported to have spent $50,000 in the search, and, worse still, his health has been badly impaired, if not permanently broken, while his wife is in an equally sad condition, and the family future seems but too certain to be overclouded by a mystery that will never be cleared up.
