From Mail Agent Chesley we learned that the preparations for the celebration of the glorious Fourth in the ancient borough of Washington were on a scale more in accordance with old time customs than for some years past.
A reunion of soldiers from several of the Pennsylvania regiments was to be held, and the prospects were good for quite a display of veterans once more on the march. Early in the morning a number of picnic parties left town by trains and other conveyances for the purpose of enjoying the day at the numerous pleasant resorts within easy reach of the town. Pretty much all places of business would be closed during the greater portion of the day.
