You will want to see our special stamp collection presented to the Library by Mr. Thomas E. Price.

This framed collection includes many interesting stamps; a reproduction of the first two United States stamps printed in America; stamps commemorating the signing of the Constitution of the United States and its ratification; stamps honoring famous American Women: Virginia Dare, Whistler's Mother, the Gold Star Mothers, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Stanton, Carrie Catt, Lucretia Mott, and Clara Barton; stamps of the Army, Navy, and the Coast Guard, and the Merchant Marine; and stamps showing progress in the United States.

Stamp collectors and others will also be interested in our "Standard Postage Stamp Catalogue" and the magazine "The American Philatelist" given to the library by Mr. Thomas E. Price.

Many of the young people who have been thinking of starting a collection of postage stamps will find Hyatt Verrill's book "Young Collector's Handbook" and Wheeler McMillen's "The Young Collector" helpful in giving suggestions for getting started in stamp collecting and other hobbies.

The library appreciates the books presented to the library by Mr. and Mrs. John Gilmer. Included in this gift collection were "The Cream of the Jesters" edited by J. B. Mussey; "New World Horizons" edited by Chester H. Lawrence; "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" by Victor Hugo; "Rebecca" and "Jamaica Inn" by Daphne DuMaurier, "The Robe" by Lloyd C. Douglas, and "The Valley of Decision" by Marcia Davenport.
