POSTOFFICE SITE PICKED.
Mitchell Building to be on Fourth Avenue
and Lawler Street.
Another step has been taken by the
government looking toward the federal
building at Mitchell. Word was
received from C. R. Kemper, acting
supervising architect at Washington,
announcing that the department had
selected a site on the southwest corner
of Fourth avenue east and Lawler
street. The site is owned by West Virginia parties and the government will
pay $4,500 for it. The site is an excellent one and is located one block east
of Main street and one block east of
the present postoffice. Of the six or
eight sites which were the prominent
ones under consideration, the one selected was the cheapest. Only one site
on Main street was offered, and this at
a price of $10,000, the others ranging
from $8,000 to $6,000.
