NEXT PRESIDENT
The question of next President begins to receive considerable attention in the Southern Democratic Papers. A Charleston paper recommends that at any rate the President should not be taken from Virginia. The papers of Virginia, on the other hand, think the only question is, which of her great men shall be the candidate, and condescendingly names two, Madison and Munroe. One of the Baltimore democratic papers, (Evening Post) has taken up the subject at great length, and concludes with recommending George Clinton for President, and Nathan Macon or John Langdon for Vice President.
All that the federalists seem to say, is, suit yourselves gentlemen; we are only passengers—N. Y. Herald.
