Extract of a letter from London, dated May 22.
"Every one here waits with impatience, to hear what your Assembly will do; all wellwishers to America, hope you will act like yourselves; rescind nothing; adhere to your former resolutions and proceedings, and leave the rest to time"
Extract of another, dated May 31.
"Virginia is, I think, look'd on here, as the most important colony, and your determinations carry great weight with them; and the peaceable Pennsylvanians joining so heartily, makes every one think you are all determined. You will ever find many friends among the independent part of this nation, and all Ireland think your cause, and theirs, is the same."
On Tuesday last, Mr. John Blair, jun. was elected Burgess for the College, and genteely entertained by the Masters. On Wednesday, for York, Messieurs Dudley Digges, and Thomas Nelson, jun. And, this day the Hon. Peyton Randolph, Esq; our late worthy Speaker, (tho' absent) was unanimously elected for this city; after which the gentlemen of the town met at the Raleigh, where an elegant entertainment was prepared at their joint expence, as a proof of their esteem and approbation of his conduct. The following are also come to hand: For Dinwiddie, Messieurs Bolling Starke, and John Banister. Prince George, Mess. Richard Bland, and Peter Poythress. Isle of Wight, Mess. Richard Baker, and James Bridger.
