TOWN ASKS FOR POWER SITE ON PAT'S CREEK

WASHINGTON-(P- Wrangell Alaska, asked the power commission this week for a preliminary permit for a proposed hydro-electric project on Pat's Creek, Wrangell Island.

The project would include a 20-foot dam on Pat's Creek at the outlet of Trout Lake; a penstock about 2,000 feet long to a power house on Zimovia Strait; and a transmission line into Wrangell.

The development would be ten miles south of the town on unsurveyed public lands.

A preliminary permit gives the holder priority while making studies necessary to apply for a commission license but does not authorize construction.
