DEAD IN CELL.
Man Convicted of Murder in
First Degree Drank
Carbolic Acid.

Lewiston, Pa., June 26.--Ellwood Garman, convicted of murder in the first degree for the killing of William Murray, was found dead in his cell at Mifflintown to-day. He committed suicide by drinking carbolic acid.

Garman, who was a prominent citizen of Mifflintown was convicted on June 17. Murray, a railroad clerk, met Garman on the streets of Mifflintown and accused him of being unduly intimate with Murray's wife. A quarrel followed and Garman shot Murray. Garman was a brother of John M. Garman, a prominent democratic politician and former democratic state chairman.
