Friends of Miss Anne Chapman, a Shaw High School graduate now on the faculty of the University of Mississippi, will be interested in two honors recently won by this skilled artist.
What proved to be a controversial entry in the fifth Miami, Florida National Ceramic Exhibition won for her a special $100 award. The 12-inch tall piece depicting six unusual figures gathered around in an informal pose, is entitled "The Affinity of Man."
Previously Miss Chapman's entry in the Louisiana Exhibition brought an award and a sale of the ceramics to a Cleveland collector.
Miss Chapman graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art and also studied at Cranbrook in Detroit. She has been invited to teach at the University of Wyoming at Laramie, this summer.
