Full Text
The Election. Our readers will perceive by official returns in our paper of to-day, that John Fox, an anti-mason, and Christian Spayd, a Jackson man, are elected to the Legislature, for this county.
The election has shewn that a large majority of the county are opposed to Jackson. Mr. Spayd received National Republican votes enough in Harrisburg to elect him, there being no National Republican candidate avowedly as such in the field. A fact alarming to the Jackson men has been disclosed, by this election, that if the Anti-Jackson forces were united, the majority, not only in this county, but throughout the State would be overwhelming.
So it is through the whole country. If the elements of opposition could be only united, Gen. Jackson would be left in a minority so lean as to excite commiseration. He would not receive 50 votes of the 261 for a re-election.—N. Y. Com. Adv.
