Full Text

May 14. The several accounts already given in the papers of the duel between the Captains in Hyde Park being imperfect, the following we are told is the Case:

The quarrel began originally, some time since in America, where Captain C. called Captain R. a coward, which the latter resented, and meeting Capt. C. on Monday evening last, in the Green Park, drew his sword; Captain C. defended himself for some time with his Cane, and some people interposing, the affair was put a stop to; however, they agreed to meet next morning in Hyde Park, when Captain C. received two pistol shots of Captain R. which happily did no Harm; Captain C, then fired in his turn, and shot Capt. R. in his hand, with which he covered his Heart, otherwise he must have been killed on the spot; however, Capt. R. has lost three of his Fingers, and is besides wounded in his left side.
