Armstrong, whose sales of electri- cal and gas appliances easily top- ped those of Jackson's 20-man sales force, was given a $200 cash bonus for his work during a banquet Fri- day night held in his honor and for runners-up James Bailey, Mortimer Cox, Rufus Hicks and Louis Smith. The follow-up men were given $50, $40, $25, $15 and $5 respectively, in the order named. During the lively intra-company competition, the sales man who sold the least was called the "goat of the week." A live goat was given him to keep and house, feed and exercise publicly.
