June 17.

Yesterday the CAP of LIBERTY was erected in the Tontine Coffee House, by the friends to Liberty, Equality and the Rights of Man, amid the acclamations of their fellow-citizens, in defiance of all despotic tyrants.-It is a beautiful crimson, adorned with a white cockade, and supported by a staff.

To the Peaceable and Independent WHIGS of the city of New-York.

YOU have planted the CAP OF LIBERTY at the Tontine Coffee House, it is an object that cannot offend the view of any liberal soul; and should a removal of it be attempted, the individual concerned in it will become the scorn and hatred of the sons of Columbia. Leave it now in the care of him who has hitherto, and I hope ever will protect it. Let us now remain at home; and trust the pledge of our love to those who usually frequented the place in which it is erected.
