Of Oil Shortage

"It must be recognized that the nation is entering a period of shortage of petroleum and its products. This shortage is already causing serious restrictions on our civilian use and unless some early action is taken to remedy the situation, we must ultimately face further restrictions, even for essential civilian and industrial consumption."

The foregoing statement was issued by Chairman William R. Boyd, Jr., of Petroleum War Council, the nation's best authority. He continued by explaining that price ceilings on crude oil are inadequate to stimulate the necessary exploration and productive activity.

"Import foreign oil," says the Great Falls Tribune in editorial comment on the oil shortage in Thursday. The press of the nation has taken up that theme, unaware of the fact that they are proposing that something be done which will have to be undone.
